Hyatt Regency Chicago Highlights: Marvelous March

Activities March 2012 Chicago

Have fun celebrating St. Patrick's Day this year indowntown Chicago

In like a lion, out like a lamb, March is the first breath of warm weather in the Windy City and a month to celebrate with outdoor activities, and then of course, green beer.

This month, soak in the last bit of winter activities at the Chicago Polar Plunge this Sunday, March 4 at North Avenue Beach in downtown Chicago. The event benefits Special Olympics Chicago athletes and will surely attract spirited participants who are crazy enough to join you in the lake.

Gear up for the booze-laden Irish holiday with the St. Practice Day Pub Crawl tomorrow, March 3 starting at Timothy O’Toole’s. The event boasts no cover and features discounts on Jameson Irish whiskey at each of the four scheduled Streeterville pubs.

Chicago’s largest St. Patrick’s Day party, Young Irish’s Forever Green, has switched venues to Park West this year and will be benefitting the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation and Dignity Dinner. The night will be as Irish as you can get with bands, dancers and bagpipers!

March Madness will hit your office mid-month with selection starting on the 11th. Who do you think will dominate the brackets?

The Southside Irish St. Patrick’s Day Parade returns after a brief hiatus and will run down Western Avenue from 103rd to 115th Street in Chicago.

The Museum of Science & Industry will debut MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition on March 15 relentlessly busting or confirming myths through the Scientific Method.

Fela! will be making its way to the Oriental Theatre in Chicago starting March 27. The award winning Broadway musical tells the story of Nigerian Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s music and sense of social justice.

Most importantly, don’t forget to come downtown Chicago and check out the hue of emerald that the Chicago River takes on St. Patrick’s Day, Saturday, March 17.
