The biggest sign of summer downtown Chicago would have to be the open admission of Lake Michigan lakefront beach. With Memorial day weekend upon us, today’s the big day!
Chicago Park District manages 26 miles of Lake Michigan beachfront access for Chicagoans and visitors. Admission to the managed Chicago beaches is free. The 2012 beach season opens Friday, May 25 and closes Monday, September 3. Swimming is permitted and lifeguards will be on duty from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., unless otherwise announced by the park district.
