Stetson’s Chop House Cellar Selection: Chardonnay, Calera

Caler Wine in CaliforniaThis week’s cellar selection comes from the central coast in California.  It’s a chardonnay with a lively bouquet of peach and honeysuckle blossom with smooth and elegant apricot notes. The finishing palate has a lingering lemon zest, which is quite lovely.

The first vintage from Calera was in 1975. The winery got its name from the name “Calera” is the Spanish word for “limekiln,” which serves as their symbol and appears on every bottle of wine.

The vineyards were sought out by winemaker Josh Jensen as the Calera Vineyards are a high elevation parcel with a limestone deposit of several million tons.

Purchase a half bottle of Chardonnay, Calera, Central Coast, California, 2009 for $27 at Stetson’s Chop House tonight. Click here to make your reservation.
